Welcome on RajTrip.com!

RajTrip describes in pictures the trip of Elina, Laurent Kretz and Dany in Rajasthan, India, in February 2009. We traveled from Delhi to Jaisalmer as per the map below:

Rajasthan MapWe arrived in Delhi where we spend a few days.

From there we drove south to Agra and enjoyed the magnificient Taj Mahal and the fort. But we also discovered an amazing and buzzing little town (little as in 1.6M population …!).

On our way to Jaipur, we stopped at Fatehpur Sikri, an ancient capital city built by Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great.

We then arrived in Jaipur, the pink city, the largest city in Rajasthan with 3.3M population. Jaipur is home of the famous Hawa Mahal (palace of the winds) and close to the Amber Fort, an impressive and massive palace in the mountains.

Continuing west, we arrived in Pushkar, a sanctified city for its sacred lake. Life is quiet and peaceful around its calm waters, and cows, monkeys and perrots live in peace in the small streets of Pushkar and the 52 ghats.

We finally reached Jodhpur, the blue city, where many scenes of The Darjeeling Limited were shot. Jodhpur was definitely a highlight of our trip, an amazing little city, and incredible fort (the Mehrangarh Fort) perched on a 400 feet high rock overlooking the plain, beautiful people from local villages, and fantastic pictures ;)

Our trip finished in Jaisalmer, in the middle of the Thar desert. Jaisalmer is home of a beautiful fort more than 850 years old. The fort encompasses the entire old city and was a key point of entry in the Rajputana for the caravans coming the west en route to India or China. A magical old town where you feel a thousand years back in time.

Enjoy our pictures as much as we enjoyed our trip!
